(OWA BOARD LISTED BELOW) New Membership Categories: 1. "Friend of the Woods" is a new non-voting membership for individuals who reside or own property within the Omena Woods boundaries. "Friends" will enjoy many of the same privileges and benefits of voting members, including use of our beautiful hiking and ski trails, optional participation in conservation and preservation projects on the property, attendance at annual meetings and participation on selected committees. To become a "Friend of the Woods" requires a one-time $1,000 tax-deductible donation to the Leelanau Conservancy's Omena Fund, and payment of annual OWA dues ($100 in 2010). 2. The second alternative allows you to become a voting member of OWA. A Bylaw change in 2009 now allows property owners to become voting members by purchasing a minimum of only one-quarter share, for $2,500. (Previously a minimum one-half share purchase was required.) These members enjoy all the benefits and privileges of membership, including voting on important issues at the Annual Meeting.
